Connecting to a WebDAV server


You can connect to or disconnect from a WebDAV server in several ways:
  • Using the WebDAV Server button in the Site toolbar. Clicking this button when you are already connected, disconnects you from the server. The button is enabled only if you have a site already open locally in the site window. To use this option, you must already have set site-specific WebDAV preferences for the site. See Setting WebDAV preferences for instructions.
  • Choosing Site > WebDAV Server > Connect/Disconnect. This command only lets you connect to a site that is already open locally in the site window. Choosing this command when you are already connected, disconnects you from the server. To use this option, you must already have set site-specific WebDAV preferences for the site. See Setting WebDAV preferences for instructions.
  • Choosing File > WebDAV Browser. This command opens the WebDAV Browser dialog where you can click the Connect button to access a selected WebDAV server. This command lets you connect to any site on a WebDAV server whether the site is open locally in the site window or not.

    • Note: Personal firewall software can interfere with the process of connecting to a WebDAV server. Check the documentation that accompanies your firewall software about setting options properly to allow Adobe GoLive access to outside servers.

    To connect to a WebDAV server with a site already open locally:

    Choose Site > WebDAV Server > Connect, or click the WebDAV Server button () in the Site toolbar.

    Note: To connect in this way, you must already have set site-specific WebDAV preferences for the site. See Setting WebDAV preferences for instructions.

    To connect to a WebDAV server using the WebDAV Browser:

    1 Choose File > WebDAV Browser.

    2 Enter the WebDAV server address in the Address text box.

    3 Press Tab, and enter the username.

    4 Press Tab and enter your password, if any.

    5 Press Enter (Windows) or Return (Mac OS).

    Note: Instead of entering the server information each time you connect, you can set up servers in the WebDAV preferences, as described in Setting WebDAV preferences. The servers you set up in WebDAV preferences appear in the pop-up menu next to the Host text box of the WebDAV Browser window.
